Suresh Oberoi debuted with Jeevan Mukt (1977) and made his mark with films like Ek Baar Kaho (1980), Laawaris (1981), Namak Halaal (1982), Coolie (1983), Sharaabi (1984), Aitbaar (1985), Dacait (1987) and Parinda (1989). He is known for his versatility, being able to switch from leading roles to character roles to negative ones. One of his finest performances is in Mirch Masala (1987) for which he won the Indian National Award for best supporting actor. In the later part of his career, his performance in Socha Na Tha (2005) was much appreciated. One of the most challenging roles of his career was playing the iconic Dr. Rajkumar in the Kannada film Attahasa (2013). He took a hiatus after that and will make a comeback playing the ruler Peshwa Baji Rao II in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2018).
