Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra began his media career in Indian advertising where he quickly gained a reputation for his style and substance. He made his feature debut with the acclaimed Aks (2001), starring Amitabh Bachchan, Raveena Tandon, Nandita Das and Manoj Bajpayee. His next feature Rang De Basanti (2006), starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Alice Patten, established him as a world-class talent and won a BAFTA nomination and was India’s entry to the Oscars, besides sweeping the IIFAs and the Filmfare Awards. Delhi-6 (2009), starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor won much acclaim. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), featuring a tour-de-force from Farhan Akhtar was a critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards including at the Indian National Film Awards. Mirzya (2016) had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
