With: Julie Depardieu, Emmanuelle Béart, Patrick Bruel
A French drama comedy film based on the best-selling novel by Katherine Pancol, revolving around the life of two sisters.
Joséphine, played by Julie Depardieu, is a researcher at the National Scientific Research Council (CNRS), a historian specializing in medieval history who is scorned by her mother. Iris, Joséphine's sister, played by Emmanuelle Béart, is a beautiful lady, the favorite child of her mother, a frivolous and exuberant lawyer, married to a rich man whom she has never loved for herself but only for the comfort that the relationship brings to her. One day, Iris announces at a dinner to write a novel about the story of a woman in the Middle Ages, a sham which she borrowed from her sister's thesis. Taken in her lie, she begs her sister to write the novel for her, promising to give her all the money to sell her debts, in exchange for the prestige of having written the work.
