The true story of the friendship that shook South Africa and awakened the world celebrates its 30th anniversary.

This epic and hard-hitting film charts the unlikely friendship between South African journalist Donald Woods and the banned black activist Steve Biko. Though initially sceptical of Biko’s political views, Woods gradually comes around to appreciate them and strongly believes in the idea that in apartheid South Africa, the black people must have the same opportunities and freedoms accorded to their white brethren. When Woods is banned himself, he must flee the country to tell Biko’s story to the world and expose the South African government’s brutal practices. The film won the Peace Award at the Berlin International Film Festival and was lauded with several international wins and nominations.
